Sterilisation of mares is performed standing using a minimal invasive laparoscopic approach. This procedure is mainly performed in mares with ovary related behavior problems and in mares with ovary tumors, hematomas and rarely abscesses. The most frequent ovary tumors are the granulosa cell tumor and the teratoma. Very large tumors need to be removed by laparoscopy under general anaesthesia.
