Wounds

Unfortunately, many horses with wounds are still being offered at the clinic. This varies from small to very large wounds with a lot of tissue loss that are sometimes difficult to repair. In some cases tendons, nerves or blood vessels are damaged. Injuries up to a synovial structure (joint or tendon sheath) or in the thoracic or abdominal cavity should always be considered serious and urgent. The size of the wound is not always indicative of severity, some very small wounds can be life-threatening. A good surgical technique and expert post-operative wound care are necessary to achieve a good result.
